HighRes Biosolutions has announced the release of ACell, a brand new bench top laboratory automation system that is small and safe enough for the bench top, yet flexible enough to integrate with any of HighRes’ world class storage devices, and easy enough to get up and running quickly.

ACell is small enough for typical benchtop integrations, and flexible enough for larger integrations on existing or new custom tables. ACell can even incorporate a MicroDock, HighRes’ patented device docking station, allowing swapping of instruments (e.g., a reader or pipettor) almost instantly, without having to reteach the robot or position and reconnect instruments manually.

Teaching is simple with floating-robot teach mode, in which the operator guides the robot by hand into its key positions and teaches points at the touch of a button.  Plus HighRes’ wireless setup tool makes teaching even simpler than other one-touch teaching methods.

ACell can easily be integrated with any of HighRes’ high-density, highly-reliable storage devices, including random-access and non-random access stackers, carousels, incubators and freezers.

ACell can also be placed in a variety of enclosure options, such as BSL2, HEPA filtration, laminar flow, temperature and humidity control, and positive or negative pressure.  These options can be configured to protect operators, assays, and cells, no matter what the research application.

ACell is controlled with HighRes Biosolutions’ Cellario, the most powerful and flexible scheduling software available.  With Cellario, any laboratory technician can run complex processes simply and reproducibly.

In addition, ACell can even be connected with other HighRes systems such as NanoCell, HighRes’ small modular system; TCell, HighRes’ table-based system; and MicroStar, HighRes’ flagship modular system.

ACell was unveiled on February 4, 2012 at the Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS) 2012 show in San Diego, CA.
