HighRes Biosolutions announces brand new products to be released at SLAS2013

HighRes Biosolutions announced today that it will release two new products at the upcoming Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening show in Orlando in January:  SampleVault, a modular automated sample store; and MicroSpin, an automated microplate centrifuge.

SampleVault is a modular sample store that research laboratories can use to store either biological samples or compounds in tube, vial, or microplate formats.  SampleVault can store up to 1.8 million 0.3ml tubes or 12,000 microtiter plates in six modules.  Customers can start out with one or more modules and expand later as capacity needs increase.  Samples are stored at temperatures anywhere from ambient down to -80°C.  Relative humidity can also be controlled down to less than 10%.

“HighRes is excited to expand our storage offerings into the biobanking and compound storage markets,” said Lou Guarracina, President of HighRes.   “We think customers will appreciate the modular design that we are bringing to large-capacity storage applications.  The expandability and redundancy of SampleVault will benefit our clients and their samples greatly. ”

MicroSpin is an automated microplate centrifuge that can achieve a relative centrifugal force (RCF) of 6000 x g, which offers capabilities for new research applications and more difficult separations.  The device features a door that opens both the top and front faces of the instrument for easy plate loading, which allows the instrument to be loaded by a wider variety of robotics than competing units.  MicroSpin also has such a high imbalance tolerance that even a single microtiter plate can be spun without a counterbalance.

Both SampleVault and MicroSpin will be on display in HighRes’ booth #1101 at the Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening’s SLAS2013 show in Orlando, Florida, January 12-16th, 2013.
